In new role, Sgroi will lead development of Neya’s perception, AI capabilities
Neya Systems, a leading provider of off-road autonomy and mission planning software, today announced that Amanda Sgroi, Ph.D., has rejoined the company as Director of Perception and Advanced Projects. In this position, Sgroi is leading the development of Neya’s perception capabilities, supporting new technological developments, and exploring new business opportunities. In addition, she is helping to formulate and implement the company’s long-term research and development strategy.
This role marks Sgroi’s return to Neya. From 2015 to 2018, she was a senior research scientist at the company, where she developed numerous technologies related to object detection and classification, machine learning, and analysis. Sgroi most recently served as the director of autonomy at Sarcos Robotics, where she led the development of the company’s autonomy and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities for complex outdoor applications specific to the aviation, solar, and defense industries.

Sgroi is a frequent speaker at industry events and has authored or co-authored numerous grant proposals and publications on perception, machine learning, and AI. She earned her Ph.D. and Master of Science in Computer Systems and Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from Duquesne University.
